Loki is a 7-year-old Maine Coon Mix boy. He comes with a sad story.

He and his brother Fergus were 'given away' as babies by someone to a family who wanted entertainment for their child. They weren't neutered and when Loki scratched the child he was shot. He managed to escape, and a woman took him in, but she had children and no money to vet either cat. She kept Loki and Fergus but never got him vet care. We met them when they came to join our feral colony that established itself in our yard when we moved here. Fergus has remained mostly feral with us-Loki is a different matter. We had him vetted and took him to a specialist who did a three-hour surgery on his leg, removing minute pieces of shot. Loki can now walk some on his leg, but last month he became ill, and we took him back to the vet who ran several tests. He believes Loki had lead poisoning which indicates there might still be microscopic fragments in his leg. He's due for another x-ray this month and his infection has cleared up.  We would talk with anyone who is interested in him about what follow-up will look like. Loki is mostly an active, loving, and playful cat who needs loving, good nutrition, and a home.

There is a reason I named him Loki. He's loving, mischievous, playful, a clown, and yet, extremely loving despite evidence of abuse. Loki, in the right home, would blossom, and he needs one badly.

He MUST BE AN ONLY CAT! HE despises other males and challenges them. Not always-he picks who he can bully. Yet with people, he's a baby in your arms, loving, funny, loves to follow you like a dog, and enjoys attention.

Loki has been vetted, but he will not live with the other cats in the home. He lives for the most part on our open front porch or when we feel he needs a night inside due to the weather he is placed inside our bathroom.
