THE FOLLOWING CATS ARE BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.

Louise is Laney's rambunctious little sister. And I do mean LITTLE: she is a full pound lighter than her big sister with a more petite features and shorter hair.

Louise is a heart-melter. It is astounding. She is lovable from the tips of her ears to her little bean-toes: friendly, affectionate, curious and playful. She hops on to her foster mom while she is working and puts her nose on hers to tell her that she needs to take a cuddle break. She makes lots of eye contact, and has the tiiiiniest little squeak for a meow.

Like most kittens, she is high-energy and loves to chase toys, wrestle her sister and zoom around the house for no apparent reason. She was not always this way though...

Louise came to Baltimore from high-kill shelter in West Virginia, pulled in the knick of time by a Maine Coon Rescue volunteer. After a long car ride, she emerged from her crate morose and lethargic, quickly finding a dark corner in which to hide. Her new foster parents assumed that she needed time to adjust, (while her sister, Laney, took advantage of exclusive playtime and attention). After exhuming her from under the bed, it was discovered that her ears were brimming with infection, and her little face smeared with mucus. A vet check-up revealed that she and her sister had a high fevers, fierce upper respiratory infections and fleas--and, worst of all, they had likely been surviving this way for some time.

After a flea bath and several rounds of medication, Louise started to emerge-- physically and emotionally. One morning, she climbed on on her foster mom's desk, cautiously studying her while she "wasn't looking." By the end of the day, she was flopped on mom's lap, a paw extended to her cheek, gazing upward with an expression that seemed to communicate gratitude and relief.

Now almost fully recovered, Louie's personality continues to grow more charming every day. Despite all she has been through, she is outgoing and trusting. Covid has prevented much socializing with other people, but the couple she has met were impressed that within a minute or two, she was sidling up to them and asking for pets. Louise doesn't mind being held and holds still for medicine and getting her nails cut. The two older cats in the household haven't been particularly friendly, but Louie and Laney just keep a little distance and continue playing.

Whomever adopts these two little troopers are going to be so glad they did. They are very entertaining kittens and wonderful little companions.
