Please read the following carefully, as Kona has anxiety...Reduced half price of $60 for her adoption fee. Adoption application must be approved on MaineCoonRescue.net

Kona is a beautiful calico long haired kitty that really wants to be loved and cared for in a stress free home. She seems to prefer women over men.  She does not like dogs and I'm not sure I'd trust her with young kids. She really needs a calm home with people who are willing to work with her to make her feel safe and secure.  I would prefer someone who is not more than 2 hours away from Columbus, Ohio in case things did not work out.

Her story begins with a young lady who adopted her as a kitten. She owned her for several years and then moved in with a guy and his 9 year old hunting dog. Kona started marking on the dog beds and getting very upset so they quarantined her to the basement and then decided to give her up to rescue. This very much traumatized Kona to lose the only home she knew.

Kona received all medical care which included treatment for a UTI which is now resolved. She is also on a small amount of prozac to prevent any marking with her anxiety so that she will not develop a future UTI,  This is because I own other cats.  In addition hemp oil helps my cats remain calmer. I was recommended the hemp oil from a rescue person and its not very expensive.  I do not know if she needs to remain on this long term as she was not on any meds while in her original home.

Since Kona has been in my home for 3 months, she has not marked anywhere. She likes to play  look out of the window at the bird feeder and watch the squirrels. She is very low key, and doesn't demand much.

She may be ok with a male cat who is not dominant. She is getting along with our younger male, but is tolerating a household of 5 other cats including a female who is not too happy with her. I really need to find her a great home so that she can finally have peace away from my other female cat. Currently she is finding spots to hide when I am not home to avoid conflict. This really is not a great life for her.

Note that moving her to a new environment will require continued dosage of prozac. It is very inexpensive at walmart (4 dollars for 2 months supply) and can be given directly or crushed in her food.

Would you consider saving Kona and giving her the life she deserves?
