Beatrice is a big (13 lbs.), beautiful tuxedo Maine Coon mix with declawed front paws.  She is a friendly, intelligent cat who likes being part of the family.  She enjoys a soft chair, catnip toys, a feather dangler, and her grain-free kibble. One of her favorite activities is lying beside a chair while her person reads, and she “listens” when spoken to.  She is healthy and clean and always uses her litter box.

Bea has a sad history, and it will take time for her to recover from her experiences.  She was abandoned on a street in Baltimore after having suffered a traumatic injury to her spine.  She has been shaved to relieve matting and is recovering from her injury, which was not a fracture and did not result in any paralysis. Because she was abused, she is wary of human touch, though she enjoys some petting and can be picked up briefly.  She travels well in a crate and is generally good at the vet but so far has been unwilling to be brushed.

Like many declawed cats, she can be nippy and thus would not do well in house with small children. She does not fear people but does not like loud voices. She has tried to make friends with the resident cats, and she might do well with another quiet, friendly cat.  Dogs are an unknown.

Bea needs a patient, loving person to care for her who will allow her to recover at her own pace.  Please consider adopting Beatrice.
